Every year on February 13, broadcasters around the globe celebrate World Radio Day (WRD) inaugurated by UNESCO in 2011. This day celebrates radio broadcasting, furthers international cooperation among radio broadcasters and encourages decision-makers to create and provide access to information and entertainment through radio, including community stations.
On February 13, 2016, the EBU, in partnership with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and other broadcasting unions, is planning a musical journey around the world in 80 minutes. CBU member stations are being asked to submit songs representing the culture of their home countries. The idea is to use music to invite the largest possible international audience to celebrate radio.
If your station is interested, please review the attached Call for Submissions, complete the attached form and submit your song using the instructions provided.
Let’s work together to make sure that the music of the Caribbean is well represented on World Radio Day, 2016!
