CBU joins WBU-ISOG in Encouraging Initiatives to reduce RF Interference

May 18, 2015 | News, News Releases

As a member of the World Broadcasting Unions (WBU) the CBU is pleased to invite its members and other stakeholders to support recently announced initiatives for the reduction of radio frequency (RF) interference, being promoted by the International Satellite Operations Group (WBU-ISOG).

The three initiatives that broadcasters in the Caribbean and around the globe are being invited to support are:

1. Include Carrier ID (CID) in all satellite services with MPEG transport streams.

2. Participate in peer groups that enable the open exchange of operational data to improve RF interference identification, analysis and RF interference geolocation.

3. Endorse training and certification programs critical for reducing RF interference incidents which address faulty installation practices, uplink errors and poor operational maintenance.
