The Caribbean Broadcasting Union is pleased to partner with Island Media Marketing & Communication, to invite entries for the Outstanding Coverage of a Regional Issue category to be presented as the Golden Conch Shell Award of the 2017 CBU Caribbean Broadcasting Awards.
The Award has been launched to recognise and incentivise outstanding multimedia coverage of an event or series of events that had impact on the Caribbean region or brought attention to the region, or demonstrated that an issue is of significance to the region.
Island Media Marketing & Communication supports and encourages focus on issues that impact the region, as a key element of uniting the Caribbean, through sharing of information and use of multimedia platforms, especially social media which have significantly changed the way Caribbean societies communicate.
And in line with the CBU’s expansion to include a broad spectrum of media players, entrants are encouraged to submit original multimedia productions: television, radio, print and digital, that were published by a CBU member between January and December 2017. Entries should focus on an event or series of events that had impact across the Caribbean during that period.
The prize will be awarded to outstanding work in any format that demonstrates it had reach and resonated in several Caribbean territories.
The winning entry or series of entries must:
- have a strong story line that goes to the heart of the issue
- have generated public interest and/or debate in three (3) or more Caribbean territories
- Followed and kept interest in the issue
The winners of CBA 2017 trophies and cash prizes of USD 500 each, will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Kingston, Jamaica on August 14, 2018
during the 49th CBU Annual General Assembly. The theme for this year’s Assembly is Building Resilience to Climate Change: Business, Technology and Content Options for Caribbean Media
