The Caribbean Broadcasting Union is pleased to partner with UNICEF Eastern Caribbean Office to invite entries for the category Responsible Coverage of Children of the 2017 CBU Caribbean Broadcasting Awards.
The Award was established in 2015 as part of CBU’s partnership with UNICEF and the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) to encourage rights-based coverage of children’s issues. The partners also produced a manual for Caribbean media professionals, available electronically, “Our Children, Our Media”
The category is open to entries from CBU members in the countries and territories served by UNICEF’s Eastern Caribbean Office: Anguilla; Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; the British Virgin Islands; Dominica; Montserrat; Grenada; St. Kitts & Nevis; St. Lucia; St. Vincent & the Grenadines; Trinidad and Tobago; Turks & Caicos Islands.
The UNICEF prize will be awarded to outstanding work in print, television, radio or digital format in any genre that highlights issues affecting children and youth, and accords with the principles of responsible coverage of and programming on children’s issues.
Caribbean Children Above
The winners of CBA 2017 trophies and cash prizes of USD 500 each, will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Kingston, Jamaica on August 14, 2018 during the 49th CBU Annual General Assembly. The theme for this year’s Assembly is Building Resilience to Climate Change: Business, Technology and Content Options for Caribbean Media.
